The latest on Proto-Kaw

Spring 2011 Proto-Kaw has re-formed!
After having announced the demise of Proto-Kaw, we are very pleased to say that the band has re-united and has completed work on their latest studio album, entitled "FORTH". It was released August 3rd.

Fall 2008 PK has disbanded
We are very sad to announce that the band has officially ended. It was a great reunion and reformation, but we just couldn't keep it going. It was a great ride while it lasted. Economics, the Music Business, etc... We have all remained good friends and that will never end. The unfinished album will eventually be released as a solo album by Kerry with guest artists.

5/20/07 Back in the Studio
Well, we weren't going to say anything, but the word seems to be out. The band is back in the studio with abundant new music and some re-recordings of other existing (Livgren) material done "Proto-Kaw style". No dates announced.

5/15/07 Live Performances
Proto-Kaw will be appearing at the Beaumont in Westport (Kansas City, March 9th, and McPherson, KS on the 10th.).

There is a link at the bottom of this page with our Live Schedule.

2/06 Back from Europe
The Kaw just finished their first European Tour. Sponsored by Inside Out Records, the band shared the billing with Pallas (Scotland), and played shows in Holland, Belgium, Germany and Switzerland.

1/06 The Wait of Glory Released
The Wait of Glory’ streets Tuesday, January 31, 2006 Worth the Wait Tour 2006 - U.S. and Europe

from Inside Out Records

2006 brings ‘The Wait of Glory’, an album of finely tuned, meticulous, and awe-inspiring music. With the cliché “better late than never” as their credo, Livgren and the re-united company decided to embark on taking their progressive rock/jazz sessions beyond the heartland and across the U.S and Europe in 2006.Superb musicianship abounds, where you’ll find the most unique sound in rock in decades.

Proto-Kaw music cannot be classified too easily. Listeners marvel at how familiar, yet how unique it sounds. Fans of classic rock, jazz, jam and even funk are all blown away by this band’s diversity.

Composer, guitarist and lyrical wizard Kerry Livgren proves once again he is never without an original idea. His varied guitar styles, from rock to jazz and all points between are proof positive this guy can really play. His gift of composition is all the more impressive. Livgren brings a powerful, cinematic type feel to his work, and the time signature changes he brings to each song are at times astonishing.

2006 begins for Proto-Kaw like no other year. They begin with a European tour and follow-up with the release of their incredible new eclectic album, ‘The Wait of Glory’ now available for purchase. (A special edition version of the cd with a bonus dvd concert recently filmed in high definition will also be available.)
